Super Regional insurers were identified by Demotech Inc., the official research partner of Insurance Journal, by using data as of December 31, 2021. Policyholder surplus of at least $100 million; net written premium of at least $50 million; and direct written premium of at least $25 million were some of the criteria used to evaluate and name companies to the rankings.
