At Amerisure, investing in the future isn’t just a commitment—it’s a responsibility we take to heart. Through the Amerisure Charitable Foundation (ACF), we are dedicated to shaping the next generation of insurance professionals by supporting community initiatives, education, mentorship, and career development. Our partnership with the University of South Florida’s (USF) Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) Program is a prime example of this mission in action.

The Amerisure Insurance Companies Scholarship, established through ACF, provides vital financial assistance to students pursuing careers in risk management, underwriting, and insurance. Each year, the scholarship awards $6,000—$5,000 directly benefiting a student, ensuring that he or she receives the support they need to excel—and $1,000 contributing to overall program operations. Our investment extends far beyond financial aid, however; we are committed to mentorship, professional development, and fostering career-building opportunities that strengthen the industry’s future.

A Pathway to Success

The insurance industry is at a pivotal crossroads. The retirement of seasoned professionals, rapid advancements in technology, and evolving risk landscapes have created an urgent demand for skilled talent. USF’s RMI program, established in 2015 within the Muma College of Business, plays a crucial role in addressing this workforce gap by equipping students with expertise in risk analysis, underwriting, and wealth management. As one of only two public university programs of its kind in Florida, USF’s initiative is an essential pipeline for future industry leaders.

Both Doug Roggenbaum, Regional Vice President of Field Marketing & Underwriting, and Anne Marie May, Regional Vice President of Risk Management, were instrumental in establishing our partnership with USF, reinforcing Amerisure’s commitment to developing top industry talent.

“It is critical for the insurance industry to attract, introduce, and train the next generation of insurance professionals,” says Doug. “Within our stable industry, the business and economic opportunities are vast. To invest in an insurance program offered to the bright, talented students of our South Regional office community is a rich opportunity.”

To that end, our Tampa office has pledged 10 industry mentors who actively work with RMI students, offering guidance, career advice, and insight into the field. Additionally, Amerisure provides summer internships to some of the program’s top students, allowing them to gain real-world experience that could lead to full-time employment. Beyond one-on-one mentorship, students also engage with insurance professionals through university-sponsored events, giving them access to valuable networking opportunities and career exposure.

A Celebration of Opportunity and Impact

Amerisure’s dedication to education was recently celebrated at the USF Muma College of Business Scholarship Luncheon, a prestigious event that brings together donors, scholarship recipients, and academic leaders to recognize the transformative power of scholarships.

The theme of this year’s luncheon, “A Million Dreams,” underscored the profound impact that financial support has on students, with more than $1.2 million in scholarships awarded to over 350 business students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

This event was more than a recognition of generosity—it was an opportunity to connect with students and see firsthand the difference that support makes. Ken Munson, Amerisure Commercial Lines Underwriter, attended the luncheon and had the privilege of meeting the Amerisure scholarship recipient, Eleana Hammond, USF senior majoring in Business Management Major with a minor in Risk Management and Insurance

“The USF Muma Scholarship Luncheon was a very impressive event that included local leaders, faculty, and student leaders,” Ken shared. “They all expressed their sincere appreciation to the scholarship providers and provided personal insight and stories with their gratitude. I was happy to have met Amerisure’s scholarship student and spent time understanding her personal goals and experiences at USF.”

Building a Lasting Legacy

At Amerisure, we believe that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to shape the future of our industry. Our partnership with USF’s RMI program is not just about financial support—it’s about fostering meaningful connections, providing real-world experience, and equipping students with the knowledge and skills to thrive in risk management and insurance. By empowering the next generation, we are ensuring a workforce that is innovative, resilient, and prepared to meet the evolving challenges of the insurance industry.
