A longstanding partnership between Amerisure’s Information Technology team and the Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) has played a crucial role in helping to provide scholarships to four young women in technology.

Together with the company’s nonprofit corporation, the Amerisure Charitable Foundation, Amerisure’s IT team provided funds toward supporting the four women through the MCWT scholarship program. Amerisure joined several Michigan-based companies in support of the 2023 MCWT scholar class of 45.

Amerisure’s Director of Application Engineering, Jyothi Palakodati, presented the four scholarships on behalf of the company at a recent celebration held by the MCWT. “It was very exciting to see so much young talent and energy in the room and we are so glad Amerisure could be part of it,” said Palakodati.

The MCWT aims to provide opportunities for women with an interest, aptitude and potential for a successful career in computer science, according to the organization. The scholarship program supports the organization’s goals to provide financial and mentoring support “to continue their higher education and ultimately help Michigan become the number one state for girls and women in technology.”

Mentoring Women in Tech

Amerisure’s partnership and support of the MCWT goes beyond scholarships, as several employees also volunteer to mentor the scholars, said Amjed Al-Zoubi, Amerisure’s Chief Information Officer.

“As these students explore their educational opportunities, the ability to have a mentor offers a well-rounded educational experience that can boost their confidence and help them explore different skillsets with an experienced professional,” said Al-Zoubi.

“We’re proud of the work Amerisure employees are accomplishing with the MCWT, and we appreciate the donation the Amerisure Charitable Foundation has made to support these efforts,” said Al-Zoubi.
